ABOUT CHRISTIAN FAITH

The Christian Faith Missionary Baptist Church began with the name "Christian Workers Council" submitted by Sis. Ruby Wilson and Bro. Robert Johnson. We held our first meeting in the Martin Luther King Building on Sampson St. on January 19, 1969. Deacon Thomas Jones served as Chairman and Bro. Daniel Butcher as Co-Chairman. Others were appointed as leaders in finance, contact, and program committees.

Brother and Sister Eddie Moten, Sisters Ruby Wilson, Iva Wells, Leola Robinson, and
Brother Robert Johnson were concerned about returning the Pastor and organizing a
church. We held meetings in various places throughout Houston for the establishment of a church. We moved from place to place but we became closer to one another, consistently praying, hoping, trusting and staying on one accord.

The late Rev. N.C. Crain, Pastor of St. John Baptist Church, 2222 Gray Street, organized
and advised Christian Faith to its first progressive levels in church doctrines and
teachings. At the organizational meeting on March 17, 1969, our first deacons were
ordained Bro's Daniel Butcher, Thomas Jones, J.H. Graham, E. Larkin, and Eddie Moten.

That same night a letter was sent to Pastor W. H. Banks calling "him" to the pastorage of Christian Faith. He accepted the call. The following Sunday, we held our first service with Rev. Marshall of St. John Missionary Baptist Church as our speaker. We continued our services at the Magnolia Hall, located on McGowen and Nagle. Rev. Rozell Harmon
joined us and was fellow shipped by Rev. Marshall.

April 17, 1969
Pastor Banks had a "special" service upon his accepting the calling at Christian Faith,
which was held at Fourth Missionary Baptist Church where the late Rev. E.S. Branch was pastor. Over 200 people joined the Church that afternoon.

July 27, 1969
Pastor and Sister Banks were installed as Pastor and Wife of Christian Faith. The
installation service was held at Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, 2210 Tuam Street.

The late Rev. D. Leon Everett served as minister. We shall never forget the many
kindnesses shown to Christian Faith by Jerusalem MBC from 1969 to 1974. Before we
entered our new office, Pastor Banks and Christian Faith used the facilities of Jerusalem including a historical pool, cafeteria, and finance facilities.

After 25 Years of faithful service. Sunday, January 1, 1995, our beloved Pastor Reverend William H. Banks finished his race.

After months of prayer a pulpit search committee was formed. Reverend Roland E.
Mouton Sr. was elected as Pastor on August 28, 1995, with Rev. F.N. Williams and Rev.
Wiley Dunn. After his acceptance he occupied the pulpit the next Sunday, which was
September 3, 1995.

An impressive Investiture Service was held November 12, 1995, with Rev. James W.E.
Dixon II and the Northwest Community Baptist Church, charge to the pastor was given
by Rev. D.Z. Cofield, Pastor of Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church. In 1996 the
property on the West side of the church was purchased. Added to our church family was one minister and four deacons. They are respectively Dr. Timothy Simmons, Bro's
Preston Cook, Walter Ervin, Onzie Jones & Melvin Tisdale. During this time, Pastor
Mouton established "Discipleship and Deacon's Family Ministries." After 17 years of faithful service, Saturday January 7, 2012, our beloved Pastor Roland Elvin Mouton, Sr. finished his race.

February 17, 2013
Reverend Corey Wilson was installed as Pastor of Christian Faith Missionary Baptist Church, with his wife Tangie Wilson.

membership and Rev. D.Z. Cofield giving charge to Rev. Corey Wilson and First Lady
Tangie Wilson.

His vision for Christian Faith is outlined in the following scriptures:

Matthew 6:33

33 But seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Matthew 28:19–20
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen

We thank God for every year, every Pastor, every ministry, every member, every soul
saved and our future - for the Best is yet to come!
